First....

SNOW!

Last night the raindrops turned to snowflakes! It only amounted to a light dusting that will be gone within the day, but it seems that our fall is already coming to an end!

More pictures to come after some walking/hiking this weekend.
Hope you all had a great week!

Fall in Alaska!

Hello again! The last two weeks we have had nonstop rain here in Anchorage! As you can imagine we haven't been able to do much hiking/exploring. Instead we've been relaxing and working on piecing together our new apartment! We spent several hours putting together a new tv stand and I've been setting up my craft/scrapbooking space!

Today the rain finally cleared and we were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather! The leaves seemed like they literally changed overnight.

These thorn plants were everywhere along the hiking path. The leaves are HUGE

 Bear poop??

Wildlife viewing boardwalk through the marsh- so pretty
Ended the afternoon with a rainbow!
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend on the east coast :)
Love to everyone! xoxoox's

Seward Highway

We had a crazy wind storm on Tuesday, which left us without power for a couple days. So, we read by candlelight for a couple nights and put our food from the fridge on the deck (Jason's smart idea :), and needless to say, were excited when it came back on!
We celebrated the end of the week Friday with some Mexican food!

Today we took a drive down the Seward Highway (something that almost everyone who lives here or has lived here, has recommended to me). It was BEAUTIFUL! I'm excited to share it with everyone who comes to visit!

We stopped at Beluga Point-in hopes of seeing a Beluga or Orca whale, but no sightings (they are usually out in August), but it was still gorgeous!

We visited the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center- such a wonderful place! They rescue and heal injured Alaska animals. I am such an animal lover so places like this make me happy (so much more humane that zoos)! We were up close with moose, elk, brown bears, black bears, bald eagles, lynx, and porcupines!

 Red-haired baby moose :)
My first reindeer sausage!
We stopped at a stream FILLED with salmon traveling upstream! It was really impressive! They were flipping around, jumping out of the water and there were different types. Pictures don't really do it justice, but just to give you an idea...
Then we hiked to Portage Glacier (my favorite part of the day). It was amazing!!

Relaxing!

Happy holiday weekend! We had a nice relaxing rainy weekend!
We ate some good comfort food, watched movies and went for a great long walk today!

We walked a biking/walking trail that goes along the coast. It is also right next to the Anchorage Airport so planes were flying in right over our heads. Really cool!

 Arriving plane

Entire car washed up on shore!
 Sandy cliffs
I touched the water for the first time!!

It was a great ending to a long weekend!
